Brief Word about Soulful, Religion, and Spiritualism

I hope you’ll understand that my usage of the word soulful should not be interpreted as an endorsement for any particular religious creed or belief. Frankly, I don’t believe you have to be religious in order to understand and practice soulful work. Atheists and agnostics are welcome, too. But I will reference God and Spirit at times. Please feel free to replace with whatever feels right for you (e.g., Allah, Buddha, Steve Jobs). The point is to not get tied up in the quicksand of religious debate. There’s quite enough of that elsewhere and it really won’t serve us well here.

I also hope that you won’t confuse soulful as a bunch of new-age, spiritualistic nonsense (or as a friend once remarked, “a load of woo-woo, closed-eye crap”). As a recovering cynic, I know how easy it is to dismiss the idea of soulful work as yet another buzzword created by pseudo-spiritual gurus out to fleece the confused masses. But please don’t fall for that, at least without giving what’s written here a fighting chance. Take a risk, be open to a new idea, and if you’re still not convinced then feel free to carry on with your life. I promise I won’t take it personally.
