Rosa, I couldn't help but smile while reading your second paragraph. I ought to know by now that I should adopt a WWRD mindset whenever thinking about things like this (BTW, WWRD=What Would Rosa Do?). There's an improv spirit mixed with good old-fashioned instinct to your approach. Thanks for adding your wonderful voice to the dialogue :)

Chris, I’d add Malcolm Gladwell’s Outliers proposition to this as well: The evidence is quite substantial that we simply cannot discount the part opportunity plays in our success – that opportunity to capitalize on your talent, with that “singular determination” Ziglar speaks of (and Colvin’s “deliberate practice [of] focus and concentration”) being the activators.

As for your question, I know it sounds simplistic at first, but I think there’s an intuitive wisdom is simply going with your gut on most things, and devoting your efforts where there is more joy for you. Sometimes that means a singular focus, other times it calls for more variety and you have to nalu it (go with the flow.) Life is just too short to do otherwise.
